                           What We Do

Gifts for Moms is a peer-to-peer support group for single moms with school-aged children.  We believe that happy moms make happy children. We are a support bridge for mothers struggling to raise children alone.  We provide support in a number of ways - we offer resource referrals, educational seminars, entertaining and informative events, support groups, counseling services, and online peer-connections and information exchange.

We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization with a governing board. We currently have over 300 moms on our roster. The organization is open to all moms, but our primary focus is serving the needs of mothers and children in Collin County.

Those who join our group agree to these tenets:

• We agree to work consciously toward self-sufficiency by attending at least three of the seminars and workshops sponsored annually by the group. 
• We agree to volunteer at least 5 hours a year to support the mission of the organization.​
• We believe that you are never too broke or too needy to consider the needs of others.
• We agree to always act in a spirit of gratitude and never entitlement toward donors or others in the organization.
• We agree to share information and offer support to other mothers whenever possible and with no strings attached.
• We believe that it is our responsibility to pay it forward. For whom much is given much is expected.
• We agree to always act in a spirit of fairness and kindness while online and at events.
• We agreed to continue to support the group both financially and through volunteering once our children have finished high school. 
• We believe that we are stronger together.

Social Services
We assist single moms to sign up for food stamps, healthcare, and TANF in our office. 

Counseling Services
We offer free behavioral health and financial counseling services for our members.

Support Group
This is a monthly information and support group for single parents.  This session is an open format where parents can discuss anything they want. Occasionally professionals are invited to lead the group; otherwise, it is an open discussion forum. 

Clothing Swap & Shoe Swap
Once a year we bring all the items that our children have outgrown and swap them with other parents. 

Self Improvement Classes
We host classes on resume building, financial management, job searching and a many others.

Referrals for Community Resources
We have a list of community partners tha we are able to provide referrals for our clients. Our list includes rental assistance, shelter, food, clothing, transportion and other services.

Job Services
We send out weekly job openings that are not widely publicised.  We provide classes on resume writing and job interviewing. We also help moms get clothing for the interview. 

Source Support
We source resources for our clients through our large network of donors and friends.
